Energy Storage: Resilient Power Without Refueling
Each Mobile Nanogrid integrates high-capacity battery storage to ensure uninterrupted power availability across any mission profile.
- Battery Storage: High-density LFP and electrostatic-based systems provide immediate power and load-balancing.
- Low-pressure, solid-state hydrogen storage: Optional backup power that extends energy resilience for weeks or months, functioning as a long-duration energy reserve or to refuel hydrogen-powered UAS/USV/UGVs.

The Continuous Energy Loop
Sesame Solar’s Nanogrids operate on a self-generating energy loop:
- Solar panels capture sunlight and power the system.
- Excess solar energy powers the electrolyzer, splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen.
- Hydrogen is absorbed into proprietary metal hydride-activated canisters and stored safely as a low-pressure solid.
- When sunlight is limited or power demand increases, the fuel cell converts the stored hydrogen back into electricity.
- Waste heat and water from the process are recycled or captured, minimizing energy loss.

Hydrogen gives Sesame Nanogrids the long-duration backup power needed to stay resilient through cloudy days, overnight gaps, and extended off-grid use.
- Long-Duration Backup: When battery levels drop or solar conditions are limited, our solid-state hydrogen can be used to restore power and extend operational endurance.
- Safe to Transport: The hydrogen remains in a solid, non-pyrophoric form at low pressure (around 300 psi - similar to an aerosol paint can), making it safe to transport and stable for long-term use.
- Energy Security Without Fuel Logistics: Hydrogen acts like an additional battery for missions that cannot tolerate downtime, reducing dependence on vulnerable fuel supply chains and supporting continuous operation in remote or contested environments.
