Sesame Solar Named Verizon Climate Resilience Prize Winner
On behalf of the talented team at Sesame Solar, we are honored to have been selected as a Verizon Climate Resilience Prize winner. 🏆 This recognition, presented in collaboration with GreenBiz and the Resilient Cities Network, underscores our commitment to decarbonizing disaster response and off-grid power, and to mitigating the impacts of climate change for vulnerable communities around the world.
The Verizon Climate Resilience Prize is an initiative focused on recognizing and propelling climate resilience solutions. We’ve been recognized as a solution that is ready to scale and that focuses on at-risk communities:
As extreme weather increases, Sesame Solar Inc. is breaking the dirty cycle of fossil fuel-powered generators that further contribute to climate change—replacing them with renewable, mobile energy solutions that are durable, easy-to-use and flexible for a variety of use cases.
The Verizon Climate Resilience Prize is not just a trophy; it's a boost for early-stage companies like ours, with funding, support, and networks. We are already receiving valuable assistance from the Climate Initiatives program at Columbia University, Columbia Technology Ventures, and NYSERDA.
Plus, we’re joining a cohort of three other incredible companies with a shared mission – 10Power, Perimeter Platform and Raincoat. 👏
‍
At Sesame Solar, our mission from day one has been to create positive, lasting change. Our motto is: People. Planet. Profits. Our very first deployments were in Dominica after Hurricane Maria devastated the island. The daily use of one of our Nanogrids saves at least 10 metric tons of CO2 emissions a year - or the equivalent to GHG emissions from driving an average gasoline-powered vehicle for 30,000 miles. With support like this prize, we’ll be able to deploy more Mobile Nanogrids and make our impact even bigger. Our first application of this prize will be to work with the frontline community, @Independence Heights, and with @NextGenLeadership and the #BlackResilienceNetwork to define the specifications and help them secure funding for the Clean Mobile Power Solutions they need to respond to extreme weather disasters in their communities.
Most recently, we announced a commitment to donate four Mobile Nanogrids to Ukraine to provide off-grid, renewable energy for maternal and neonatal services, clean water, and emergency response. We’ve also launched a new partnership with Watergen to install atmospheric water generation technology in our Mobile Nanogrids to meet another critical need in the face of climate change: more access to clean water. Â
We look forward to a future where clean, mobile power is accessible to all, and we invite you to connect with us to help make it happen. DM me or visit sesame.solar to learn more!
